Once these dogs have been properly rehabilitated and trained, our goal is to adopt these animals into appropriate, loving, and responsible “forever” homes. Our adopters are contracted to return adopted dogs if they can no longer care for them no matter what period of time has passed since the initial adoption. Our adopted dogs are non-transferrable.

A FAIR CHANCE

It is so easy to take in animals and adopt them out as fast as possible just to boast high adoption numbers. That is not what we are about. Although we would like to find the right home for each dog as fast as possible, we are true rescue and want the rescue cycle to end for each dog so we thoroughly screen to ensure a good match to people with appropriate experience. People feel comfortable relinquishing their animals to us and people prefer to adopt from us as we focus on quality adoptions to ensure the adopters and adopted animals are a good match, we ask for veterinarian and groomer references as well as personal references. We physically go to each home the dog will be adopted to and perform fence checks where appropriate so we can ensure the dog is in a good environment. To help ensure our dogs have a good chance of meeting the goal of ending the rescue cycle, we are the first rescue organization that we know of that commits to having our adopted dogs already trained in basic obedience and pack leadership protocols, receive potty training, leash training, socialization with other animals and humans, and training instruction to their new owners with ongoing support and consultation for the lifetime of the adopted dogs. Also, before all dogs are adopted to their new homes, they are brought up-to-date on their rabies, distemper combo, and bordatella vaccinations, heartworm tested, spayed or neutered and other necessary and immediate medical procedures performed as resources allow. We have been operating this way since our creation in 2009. We fall under Georgia Poodle Club Incorporated and are the first breed club that is rescue based as opposed to breeder based. We do not discriminate against mixed poodle breeds as it is not the dogs fault they were bred that way, and they, too, are loving dogs, that need true rescue to find them a forever home. Many of our dogs come from families who purchased these dogs from breeders with AKC and CKC and other certification. Dogs do not need certification to be wonderful dogs, especially since we have noticed that many dogs coming with their certification are not all bred to the same standards. Unless the certifying body begins to police the certification they administer to ensure the breeders are breeding dogs to certain standards then really ask yourselves what good is that certification? We have many certified and uncertified dogs coming through our rescue that are absolutely wonderful and that we find good homes for.

About Us-NEW MAILING ADDRESS

<img loading="lazy" title="debpic" or mixes begins with completing our application amd only returning it as an email attachment and submitting a non-refundable $20 “application fee” via PayPal. We do not accept paper copies of applications. The application will be reviewed when Paypal notifies us of receipt of the application fee. The adoption amount varies for each dog and is listed by each dog’s profile. The adoption amount helps offset the food, nutritional, medical and other costs we incur amongst all our dogs. All dogs are spayed/neutered, given vaccines, tested for heartworm, treated for worms, treated for injuries and illnesses when necessary, given dentals/tooth extractions if needed and are treated for infections, allergies, and other things, if needed. Serious medical problems are also treated, which may result in going to specialists and operating, if necessary.

Our application is thorough in that it will ask you many questions about your lifestyle, your ownership experience, the type of animal you seek, and the lifestyle you intend to provide the animal you seek to adopt from us. Once your application is received and your application fee is received via Paypal, the application will be reviewed. When the application is initially approved, you will then be contacted, sometimes with further questions, and if appropriate, to schedule a meet and greet with the dog usually in Milton, GA. This has always been a fun session. ALL family members that reside in the household, which includes any dog family members, must be present for the meet and greet. After the meet and greet, we ask that you send us an email letting us know your thoughts. This way there is no pressure and no obligation for you to commit and adopt on the spot if the situation is not right. At this point we will begin contacting the references for all the people interested in the same animal. The adopter(s) chosen to adopt any dog(s) from Georgia Poodle Rescue are required to sign our standard adoption agreement, which the application also becomes part of, stating they will provide proper care and love for the animal as well as other details, including returning the animal to us for any reason after any length of time if they could no longer keep the animal.

We encourage you to return the application, even if you don’t see the poodle or mix you are seeking, so we can place you on our waiting list and contact you when the dog you seek comes into our program. We are always receiving new dogs, calls from people who can no longer keep their dogs, and may know of someone else or another organization who has a dog that you seek and can also refer you to them if we have your application on file. We have provided 100% of the people formerly on our waiting list with a wonderful family member!

Georgia Poodle Rescue is a legal entity formed under Georgia Poodle Club Incorporated and licensed in January 2009.
